Auto Injuries Orlando, FL

Auto Injuries

Even a “minor” crash can result in serious injuries like ligament sprains. This can lead to chronic pain and disability if not treated properly. In fact, research shows that early treatment is the best way to prevent long-term symptoms. Chiropractic adjustments are effective because they help restore the healthy, normal function of your nervous system without the use of drugs or surgery.

Your First Visit to a Chiropractor in Oregon

Your first visit to our office will be very similar to any other medical appointment you’ve ever had. We will discuss your medical history and symptoms, and try to pinpoint the answers to some important questions:

  • When and/or how did the back pain start?
  • How are you affected by the pain in terms of activities and range of motion?
  • What is your level of pain?
  • Are there other symptoms you’re feeling as a result of the pain?

If you have recent X-rays available, we will ask you to bring those with you to the first appointment. If you don’t have those available, we will likely perform some X-ray scans to properly diagnose your back pain. After the exam and looking over your X-rays, our chiropractor will discuss his findings with you and recommend a specific chiropractic course of treatment.

Types of Chiropractic Care for Back Pain

Manual manipulation and spinal adjustments are the two main chiropractic procedures for dealing with back pain. You will also receive a lot of education about your condition from your chiropractor, about body mechanics and posture.

Manual manipulation is a type of therapeutic massage that chiropractors are trained to perform. This therapeutic massage eases muscle tension in the back, which in turn helps to ease the pain. Irritated nerves from a back-related problem can also be sent radiating pain to the arms or legs; manual manipulation helps relieve this type of pain as well.

Spinal adjustments are the procedure that chiropractors are most well-known for. Having your spine adjusted is an uncomfortable experience, but we strive to make the procedure as gentle as possible and will not push you past your limits. Patients who undergo spinal adjustments often experience soreness after the first few treatments, which then goes away as spinal corrections are made over time.

Patients with severe back pain may need daily treatments for the first week or so. Those with less severe pain may only require one or two treatments per week. The good news is that frequency of treatments will diminish as your pain is reduced over time, and you can resume life’s normal activities.
